I was to be the Featured Demo Artist for the Austin Pastel Society for our April 26, 202o meeting. It became apparent early in March, that this meeting was not going to occur in person due to the Covid-19 restrictions. Current APS president, Enid Wood, approached me about doing a virtual demo. Well, now I'm no stranger to the community theater stage, but recording myself on video? OK. This sent me on an adventure of learning about videotaping, splicing several videos into one and publishing them on YouTube.

Mission Accomplished! On April 26th, approximately 30 APS members "met" online for a Watch Party of my video, Alaskan Sunset Demo. Some members even painted along. I was online to answer questions about materials or technique. So exciting!

Prior to making the demo video, I also did a short video on my process for choosing the colors for a painting using a reference photo plus a short tour of my home studio. The actual demo had to be filmed in three sections, but it is all in one now for viewing. I'll post links to both videos. I'll post the reference photo as well so if you feel like painting an Alaskan Sunset, you'll be ready to go!

I had visited with a friend last year about doing videos geared towards beginner/intermediate level pastelists, so this just might be the jump start I needed! Stay tuned to Joycelyn Schedler Art!
