Published My First YouTube Video

Hello out there! I have been busy during the Stay At Home orders due to COVID-19. My art studio is in my home, so things haven't changed much for me on a daily basis. There were some public art events cancelled and I mourn those because I am also a social creature.
One of those public art events that has been cancelled is my painting demonstration at the April 2020 Austin Pastel Society (APS) meeting. The current President of APS, Enid Wood, contacted me and asked how I felt about doing a virtual demo for the group. She gave me free rein to design what that might look like and applied no pressure. Challenge Accepted!!
I began researching how to record myself using my camera and a tripod. For my first try, I decided to film my work surface while I talked about the products used in toning paper for pastel painting. I found out that my camera records up to 25 minutes and then cuts off, so I recorded two sessions. That led me to learn how to use my iMovie application so that I could splice them together into one video. Done! Next, I created a YouTube account, uploaded the video and made it public. I cannot tell you how many "how to" videos I watched in the month of March. A Bunch!! My FIRST video can be found on YouTube as Joycelyn Schedler Art: Toning Paper for Pastel Painting. Thing is, I had ruminated about posting videos of me painting and a friend even had suggested that I do a "Pastels and Prosecco" series. I'd have to keep a cover over my glass due to pastel dust, but that's doable. That may still be in the works for the future!
I have finished creating the pastel painting video for APS and am now researching how we might stream it live on Facebook while the APS members watch or even paint along on our original meeting date of April 26, 2020. My plan is to release it to them first and then make it public at the end of April. Will see how it goes. You can look for it on YouTube after April 26th.
